Jessica is a graduate from The University of North Texas, a CACREP (Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs) Accredited University, with a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. She is a National Certified Counselor (NCC) and a Licensed Professional Counselor-Intern with a passion for working with children, adolescents, and the family system. She is currently accepting evening and weekend appointments for children, adolescents, and parents/guardians.
Jessica graduated from Texas State University in December 2014, where she received her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, with a minor in Family and Child Development. Prior to LPC-Intern licensure, Jessica provided play therapy and talk therapy to children, adolescents, and college students in the Counseling and Human Development Center at The University of North Texas. She also completed an internship at Town Center Elementary in Coppell, TX where she provided individual and group counseling, crisis intervention, planned and taught classroom guidance lessons, and consulted and collaborated with educators, parents, and administration to support students K through 5th grade. While earning her master’s degree, Jessica aided doctoral student researchers by collaborating as the counselor in research projects with community preschool students utilizing her play therapy skills. Jessica has extensive experience working with children and adolescents and believes in the power of early intervention for future success.
Jessica believes every individual has unique life experiences and an innate tendency to heal and grow. Jessica utilizes person-centered, cognitive behavioral, and solution-focused approaches and will adapt her approach based on the needs of you and/or your child. She views her role as a counselor as one who is a guide on your journey and believes that empathy, genuineness, and unconditional positive regard are the key components in promoting change. She can help with anxiety/depressive disorders, social skills, grief, post-traumatic stress, relationship concerns, life transitions, abuse, and much more.
