Alison Rhodes is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the State of Texas, holding a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from CACREP accredited University of North Texas at Dallas. Alison enjoys working with individuals from all walks of life, and specializes in working with children (7 and up), teens, adults, and families that have experienced stressful or traumatic events.
Alison understands that healing is not linear. Stress and trauma can resurface at any time, causing individuals to feel overwhelmed, numb, and ashamed. Alison is honored to help her clients reclaim safety, strength, and resilience throughout their healing journey. Alison can help with, trauma, PTSD, family conflict, addiction, anxiety, behavioral issues, codependency, coping skills, depression, grief, life transitions, mood disorders, parenting, relationship issues, self esteem, self- harming, stress, suicidal ideation, sexual abuse, LGBTQIA+ issues and more.
Alison approaches therapy from an integrative perspective. This means that she will adapt to individual needs and create deep, meaningful change by blending techniques from several different therapy approaches. She has pursued specialized training in Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). For children ages 7-11, Alison is a strong advocate in the power of play. Children often struggle when trying to process emotions, especially in verbalizing how they are feeling to others. Following a child-centered play therapy approach, Alison provides a safe, nonjudgmental environment where children can express themselves freely while developing improved coping skills.
Alison’s approach with clients of all ages is based on building trust, fostering empowerment, supporting self-compassion, enhancing skills, and nurturing resilience. She will empower you to not erase the past but to integrate it by reclaiming a sense of agency, understanding the impact of trauma, and learning to regulate emotions more effectively so you can live more fully in the present. Healing from trauma is a deeply personal and complex journey, but it is not something you have to do alone.
Alison believes that everyone deserves to feel safe, empowered, and whole. She is looking forward to meeting you.
